"STEVEN SPIELBERG PRESENTS FREAKAZOID!" >From the collaborative team that created "Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs" and "Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon Adventures" comes "Steven Spielberg Presents Freakazoid!," an exciting half-hour animated series which debuts on Kids' WB!, Saturday, September 9, 1995. This fast-paced show follows the comic misadventures of teen superhero and crimefighter "Freakazoid," along with the exploits of a handfull of his comic caped co-stars. The story begins with the mild-mannered Dexter Douglas, a shy teen from Washington D.C. who, one snowy afternoon while logged onto the Internet, is thrust into a horrible crash on the information superhighway and transformed into an electrifying superhero. "Freakazoid" is the humorous personification of information overload. His synapses constantly misfire, sending his thoughts and ideas streaking into various comic directions, one right after the other. He confronts and confounds villains with quips, non sequiturs and jokes, leaving them completely dumbfounded. This classifies "Freakazoid" as an official 'superhero.' Joining "Freakazoid" in his attempts to outwit the half-wits are other superhero associates from the superhero world. "Lord Bravery" is a neophyte crimefighter hoping for a touch of respect and recognition, operating out of his flat in London, which is also occupied by his wife and belligerent mother-in-law. "The Huntsman" is a heroic woodsman searching for crimes to solve in a city packed with nothing but law abiding citizens. "Fanboy," a pesky sycophant who's president of the "Freakazoid" Fan Club, is a comic book aficionado who idolizes "Freakazoid" and hopes to be his sidekick. Other cohorts include: "Toby Danger," "The Lawn Gnomes," "Foamy the Freakadog," "Hero Boy," and the visitor from beyond the stars, "Mo-Ron." We will also meet "Freakazoid's" female counterpart, "Freakazette." Among the recurring villains in "Freakazoid's" universe are: the brilliant scientist with the oversized cranium, "The Lobe;" "Candle Jack" who is a close relative of the boogie man; "Cave Guy," the urbane but monstrous cave guy; and an assortment of other ghouls, crackpots and over-the-top villains. Each week, this half-hour series will present exploits of these unique and humorous characters in what adds up to the first superhero series with a comedy/variety show format. Paul Rugg, one of the story editors and writers of "Freakazoid," performs the voice of our superhero. In quite an unusual circumstance, after auditioning literally hundreds of talented voice-over artists, Steven Spielberg, along with other members of the creative series team, decided that Rugg was the most capable person to perform "Freakazoid." Rugg, a comedian and writer by trade, has found himself in the precarious situation of not only writing for the series but also playing the starring role. "Steven Spielberg Presents Freakazoid!," executive produced by Steven Spielberg in association with Amblin Entertainment, is produced and animated by Warner Bros. Animation, under the creative supervision of Senior Producer, Tom Ruegger. TM & (C) Warner Bros. 1995 "STEVEN SPIELBERG PRESENTS FREAKAZOID!" Shy teen Dexter Douglas was working on his computer one snowy afternoon in Washington, D.C. and, while logged onto the Internet, he was thrust into a horrible crash on the information superhighway and transformed into an electrifying superhero -- aka Freakazoid. Freakazoid is the humorous personification of information overload. His synapses constantly misfire, sending his thoughts and ideas streaking into various comic directions, one right after the other. He confronts and confounds villains with his silliness leaving them completely dumbfounded. He is always on the move to outwit the half-wits. ANNOUNCER (voiced by Joe Leahy) The announcer serves as narrator of "Steven Spielberg Presents Freakazoid!" The booming voice of the Announcer puts Freakazoid through his paces at each and every turn. Of course, since no one can predict what Freakazoid will do next, the Announcer is not always in sync with our superhero. And, you can bet, this drives the Announcer crazy. But, ultimately, Freakazoid keeps the Announcer in the know so the smooth talker is never more than a step behind Freakazoid's antics. SGT. COSGROVE (voiced by Edward Asner) This 'tough as nails' police Sergeant is one of Freakazoid's best buddies. Sgt. Cosgrove and Freakazoid share a fondness for the banal and visit places such as the Museum of Spackle or the world's largest free-standing beef jerky. They are true pals with an appreciation for the absurd! DEXTER DOUGLAS (voiced by David Kaufman) Dexter Douglas is a mild-mannered teenager who, one snowy afternoon, while logged onto the Internet, is thrust into a horrible crash on the information superhighway and transformed into an electrifying superhero. He's average, predictable, the middle of the bell curve and the center of the silent majority -- basically he's completely dull and boring! There's simply nothing extraordinary about Dexter Douglas. He's justa kind-hearted guy who blends into the crowd easily -- except when he's "Freakazoid"! MRS. DOUGLAS (voiced by Tress MacNeille) Mrs. Douglas (Dexter's mom) is totally unaware that her son is Freakazoid. She is also unaware that Eisenhower is not President of the United States. MR. DOUGLAS (voiced by John P. McCann) Dexter's father, Mr. Douglas, is a car salesman who believes a goblin lives in his gas tank. If he puts in high octane gasoline and pork chops, everything should be okay. DUNCAN DOUGLAS (voiced by Googy Gress) Duncan is Dexter's older brother but, unfortunately, he's quite a bully. Duncan takes great pleasure in taking advantage of Dexter whenever he has the chance. STEPH (voiced by Tracy Rowe) This "All-American Girl Next Door" attends the same high school as Dexter Douglas. She has a terrible crush on Freakazoid, but is unaware that Dexter and Freakazoid are the same. THE LOBE (voiced by David Warner) The Lobe is Freakazoid's number one nemesis. He's a brilliant arch villain with very low self-esteem. He has the body of a man and the head of a brain (you can actually see all of his brain parts). LORD BRAVERY (voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett) Lord Bravery. the most put upon superhero ever to exsist, toils in obscurity in London while awaiting the big rescue that wil give him the recognition he thinks he deserves. CAVE GUY (voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett) Cave Guy, one of the most dangerous of villains, is a highly intelligent Neanderthal who enjoys persecuting defenseless people and reading The New Yorker. CANDLEJACK (voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett) Candlejack is really the Boogie Man. Yes, simply by saying his name (please don't say it!) he can steal you and take you to his tree house. THE HUNTSMAN (voiced by Jeff Glen Bennett) The Huntsman is an extremely capable but frustrated superhero. Unfortunately, he is unable to find work because he has cleaned up all the crime. His favorite things are little cakes with hickory on them. FAN BOY (voiced by Stephen Furst) Fan Boy is president of the Freakazoid fan club but he's a constant thorn in Freakazoid's side. He is a teenage master of useless trivia pertaining to movies, cartoons, science fiction, comic books, television and video games. ARMONDO GUITIERREZ (voiced by Ricardo Montalban) Guitierrez is the brilliant, evil CEO of the Apex Microchip Company. He is obsessed with finding the code that unlocks the path to the heart of the Internet where Dexter became Freakazoid. His favorite television show is "Full House," especially episodes where the Olson twins were too young to talk. LONGHORN (voiced by Maurice LaMarche) Longhorn was at one time a man but later in life a doctor transformed him into a buckin' and cow-pokin' steer. He is an arch criminal, and quite possibly the worst country western singer in the world, yet his greatest dream is to make it in 'tune town' - Nashville. TM & (C) Warner Bros. 1995
